We continue to receive a lot of emails from our diehard PBA followers from all over the globe and this week, we’d like to give way again to some of them.
Peejay Pallagud would like to know who Billy Robinson is.
Billy Robinson is one of two Americans – the other being Cisco Oliver – who were allowed by the PBA to play even in All-Filipino tournaments in the early years of the league to somehow balance the competition. Robinson is a 6-7 center who suited up for Noritake. Because of his advantage in heft, Robinson was always among the league leaders then in scoring and rebounding. But even with the Americans’ help, Crispa and Toyota continued to have a stranglehold of the PBA championships back then.

Alfredo Santillana is asking about the imports for the coming Fiesta Conference.
The Board of Governors has tasked the Commissioner’s Office to look into the feasibility of hiring Asian imports, or players who are citizens of FIBA-Asia member countries (excluding naturalized citizens), of course, with an eye on the talents who played in the FIBA-Asia championship. If the league decides to go this route, then a 6-8 height limit will be imposed.
However, if international commitments will mean that the best talents will be tied up and won’t be available for the Fiesta Conference, then the league will go to open recruitment, meaning teams can get whoever they want from any country, but with a height limit of 6-6.
